The journey

Born to a Gambian father and a Wisconsin mother, Tony Sanneh was raised in St. Paul, Minnesota, by a social worker mother who instilled in him a foundational belief: he could be "anything he wanted to be." This identity and multicultural upbringing provided the bedrock for a life defined by crossing boundaries. His childhood trip to Gambia offered an early lesson in the power of a village.
